We’re going into production with our new Backpacker stove, which will be ready to ship on October 25th. All funds generated from sales of the Backpacker will be used to fund our Kenya Stove project, which will be introducing energy efficient clean-burning wood-gas stoves to Kenya.
The Backpacker stove is made from corrosion resistant 316 stainless steel. The stove is precision laser cut, and features retractable stainless steel handles that stay cool. The stove has a double wall which facilitates primary and secondary air. You’ll notice that the flame will hover above the wood fuel at the point where secondary air enters the stove.
Dimensions: 6.125 W x 5 H (inches)
Weight: 600 grams
Fuel: dry sticks, wood chips, wood pellets (500g capacity)
Time to Boil: 6 minutes to boil 0.5 liters
Fuel to Boil: 50 grams to boil 0.5 liters
I got my Backpacker today. Cool little stove, can wait to test it out.
Hey, I hope you enjoy it. We’ll be posting the PDF manual later today. I didn’t get a chance to look into what pots the stove may nest in, but let me know if you know of any.

Tested my new backpacker stove this evening. It works great!
I’m interested in seeing the plans for the full-size Kenya stove.
Great job! Good luck!
Hi Deb,
I’m glad you like it. We are working on the full size stove in Kenya now and will be posting plans after doing some more R&D, hopefully later this year we’ll have the plans up.

Can the stoves use sawdust as fuel?
The stoves can used pelleted sawdust, but not sawdust since the density is low and the fine particles inhibit air flow.
